The capsule is the only real difference

A tablet has to break apart before any drug becomes available. A softgel holds its sildenafil in solution: the shell opens and the contents are immediately ready for absorption.

How it works

Sildenafil inhibits PDE5, the enzyme that ends an erection by clearing away the messenger that keeps vessels in erectile tissue relaxed. Blocked enzyme, sustained erection — as long as arousal is there.

Softgels need better storage than tablets

Heat is the problem. Room temperature and dry, away from radiators, and not left in a car in summer. Capsules that have gone sticky, soft or misshapen should be thrown out rather than taken.
