What Cenforce is
Sildenafil citrate tablets from Centurion Laboratories. The brand name belongs to the manufacturer; the contents belong to the same molecule that has been treating erectile dysfunction since the late nineties.
It sells on price. For a lot of men it is the first erectile dysfunction treatment they ever try, simply because the barrier is lower.
Several strengths, which is the point
The line runs accross a range of strengths, which makes finding your own level easier than with a single-strength product. Starting high is a common mistake — more milligrams do not produce a better erection past a certain point, they produce a worse headache.
If you are new to this, start at the lower end of what is available, or split a higher-strength tablet. You can always step up next time.
How does it work, exactly?
Sildenafil inhibits PDE5, the enzyme that terminates an erection by clearing away the messenger that keeps vessels in erectile tissue relaxed. With the enzyme blocked, arousal produces a firmer erection that holds.
Nothing starts without arousal. That is consistent across the whole class and across every brand name in it.
When to take it
Thirty to sixty minutes before sex, with water. Faster on an empty stomach; noticeably slower after a heavy, fatty meal. The useful window is about four to five hours and starts when you swallow.
Food, drink and the things that interfere
Fat is the main brake. Grapefruit juice is the main accelerator — it slows the liver enzyme that breaks sildenafil down, so levels climb. Leave it out on the day.
One drink is fine. Several lower blood pressure further and flatten arousal, which means the tablet ends up working against the alcohol.
Which side effects are common?
Headache, a flushed warm face, blocked nose, heartburn. Sometimes a faint blue tinge to colours or extra sensitivity to bright light. Usually strongest the first time and milder afterwards.
Sudden vision loss, hearing loss on one side, chest pain, or a painful erection that will not resolve are all urgent. The last one damages tissue if ignored.
Nitrates: the hard no
Nitroglycerin spray or tablets, isosorbide mononitrate, molsidomine, riociguat for pulmonary hypertension, and poppers from the recreational shelf. All of them open blood vessels through the same pathway this drug uses. Put them together and blood pressure can drop far enough to collapse the circulation.
There is no spacing trick that makes this safe. If you carry a nitrate spray for chest pain, this class of medicine is not for you, and that is worth saying plainly rather than burying in small print.
Checking the packaging is worth the minute
With low-cost generics, look at the print quality, the batch number and the expiry date. Tablets inside one pack that differ noticeably in colour or shape are a warning sign.
This is not alarmism, just routine. Buy repeatedly from the same source and anything unusual stands out immediately.
Who should not take it
Severe heart disease, recent heart attack or stroke, very low blood pressure, severe liver or kidney impairment, inherited retinal disease. Alpha blockers for prostate symptoms need spacing and a low dose; ritonavir and some antifungals require a reduction.
