What the designation covers

It is a product name. The manufacturer has adjusted the inactive ingredients so the vardenafil becomes available sooner after you take it.

Duration is unaffected, because that depends on how fast the liver clears the molecule rather than on how the tablet is pressed.

How much sooner

Vardenafil is already among the quicker options, typically twenty-five minutes to an hour. A faster-releasing tablet can trim some of that. The window afterwards stays around four to five hours.

A very fatty meal will still slow it down. Ordinary food is not much of an obstacle for this molecule.

The mechanism

Vardenafil inhibits PDE5. That enzyme normaly ends an erection by clearing the messenger that keeps smooth muscle in the erectile tissue relaxed. With it blocked, arousal produces a firmer erection that holds.

What can you expect to feel?

Headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, occasionaly dizziness or an upset stomach. Brief visual flicker or light sensitivity happens.

Nitrate medicines — nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate, molsidomine — plus riociguat and poppers. The two act on the same mechanism, and the combined drop in blood pressure can be fatal rather than merely unpleasant.

This is not a precaution that scales with dose. It applies to the smallest tablet as much as the largest, and it has no safe interval.

Interactions

Alpha blockers for prostate symptoms need spacing and a small dose. Ritonavir and some antifungals raise vardenafil levels sharply. Skip grapefruit juice.

Contraindications

Recent heart attack or stroke, severe heart failure, very low blood pressure, severe liver impairment, dialysis, inherited retinal disease.

If it does not work first time

That is common and rarely the drug's fault. Nerves, alcohol and timing explain most failures. Try it a few times before concluding anything.

Persistent new difficulty deserves a blood pressure and blood sugar check — the vessels involved here tend to register vascular problems early.
